This renovation project honors the city and nearby seacoast. The ticketing area depicts the capitol building’s stained glass dome, utilizing recycled stained glass aggregate. A billowing map with solid brass longitude and latitude lines, rivers and forests, is at the same time whimsical, accurate, and informative to travelers. The design is communicated beautifully through the use of hand-blended, water inspired epoxy that darkens gradually into deeper water and replicates sea meeting sand. Integrating multiple sizes of mother-of-pearl aggregate and mirror give the floor a feel of the ocean underfoot.
