Renovation Award Boise Airport Terrazzo Art Renovation

This gorgeous art-in-public places mural, “Terra Firma,” is a 25-foot-diameter circular map of Idaho and its contiguous states. All divider strips, other than the lettering, were hand-bent on site. The mural is a precise replication of an earlier installation. Numerous rounds of sampling achieved perfect matching of the ten original colors. After months of monitoring moisture levels in the slab, a moisture mitigation system was applied to ensure the soundness of the floor. The mural was installed in multiple phases within a facility renovation, all during working hours of the fully operational airport.
