Impressive technically and aesthetically, this fabulous installation was part of a remodel of the 1971 Denver Art Museum, known as the Martin Building, in honor of its 50th anniversary. The renovation project references and extends the vision of the original design, which was Italian master of architecture Gio Ponti’s sole completed commission in North America. The terrazzo installation encompassed the addition of an elliptical staircase and seven lobby floors – a total of some 10,000 square feet. Two original poured-in-place cement terrazzo staircases, which served as the model for the new staircase, were also fully restored.
