Care has been exercised in the scanning process of these illustrations to provide
an image that represents the product. Nevertheless, electronic imaging does
not remain true to the colors. Monitors and printers vary greatly in color
resolution! To ensure proper color selection, please call the NTMA office,
800-323-9736 and ask for a Color Palette. Also, since marble is a product
of nature, variations of color and shape can be anticipated. Do not use this
electronic palette for sample selection!
Please note: The selection of Designer (D) and Exotic (EX) formulations are available only with the use of a resinous (Epoxy) binder. Standard (S) formulations are available in either resinous or cementitious binders. Venetian (V) and Rustic (R) examples primarily use a cementitious binder. Being that Designer and Exotic formulations incorporate the use of specialty aggregates, an increase in cost should be expected when compared to the Standard formulations. Use of “Special Finish” techniques, designated by “SF,” will also result in an increased cost. The NTMA recommends 120 grit stones for fine grinding, but deeper colors can be achieved with additional grinding using higher grit stones. Special Finishes, sometimes referred to as “marble finishes” require additional labor and materials that will result in a higher cost. When selected, designers must indicate the use of a “Special Finish” plate in their specifications. Such finishes may also decrease the inherent slip resistance of the terrazzo floor. Terrazzo smoothness and gloss will vary depending upon the degree of finishing and polishing specified. Price adjustments should be expected for higher degrees of finishing.
The cost of installation is dependant upon the materials selected (Standard, Designer, Exotic, Rustic, or Venetian), the total size of the installation, intricacy of design, and prevailing labor rates in the area of the project. Designer, Exotic, Venetian and Rustic terrazzo formulations incorporate materials and/or techniques that will increase the cost when compared to Standard terrazzo formulations. |
