Special Terrazzo Plates |
The special plates illustrate Venetian Terrazzo
and Rustic Terrazzo, and are not covered
under the Standard plate classification.
Palladiana
and Venetian Terrazzo are considered to be
a highly
decorative form of Terrazzo and are eminently
suitable for high traffic areas. Palladiana
and Venetian
Terrazzo normally have Portland cement as
a matrix. Rustic Terrazzo is a safe,
non-slip,
cementitious
surfacing suitable for outdoor paving. The
texture varies in accordance with the chip
sizes and with
a great variety of suitable hard, colorful
aggregates.
The main characteristics of these special plates
are as follows:
|
- PALLADIANA
A form of Terrazzo in which 1/2 inch thick random
fractured slabs of marble are set in an underbed
and the joints between these slabs are filled
with Terrazzo, or a low shrinkage white or tinted
jointing material.
- VENETIAN TERRAZZO
Same as standard Terrazzo, except that large
chip sizes [#3 through #8] are utilized. Venetian
Terrazzo, therefore, requires an increased thickness
to accommodate the larger chip sizes.
- RUSTIC TERRAZZO
A form of Terrazzo in which no grinding is required.
Instead, the topping is washed or treated in
such a way that the chips are exposed, creating
a uniform textured surface. In exterior work
where the Rustic Terrazzo will be exposed to
freezing conditions, it is recommended that a
dense chip be used, and that the matrix contain
a suitable air-entraining agent.
